Mrkr vs Matomo.
Matomo is the most complete privacy-analytics product there is, and you can run it yourself. Mrkr is smaller, faster to stand up, and cookieless without configuring anything.
What is the difference between Mrkr and Matomo?
Matomo is a full analytics suite with heatmaps, form analytics, A/B testing, custom reports, and tag management, available as cloud or as GPL software you host yourself. Mrkr is a hosted, lightweight tool with analytics, replay, funnels, cohorts, and revenue attribution, cookieless by default. Matomo has more features. Mrkr has less setup.
This is the one comparison on the site where the competitor has the longer feature list and it is not close. What Mrkr trades that breadth for is a sub-6 kB tracker, a dashboard that is useful on day one, and a default configuration that does not need a consent banner.
Useful on the first afternoon.
One script tag, and the overview fills with visitors, sources, pages, devices, and countries. No tag manager, no plugin selection, no goal wizard. Matomo gets to a better place eventually. Mrkr gets to a good enough place immediately.

Where Mrkr is better.
Cookieless by default
Matomo sets cookies unless configured otherwise. Mrkr writes nothing persistent to the device out of the box.
Weight and speed
Under 6 kB against a much larger tracker, and Mrkr measures your Core Web Vitals too.
Adblock resistance, managed
Ingest serves from your own subdomain. On Matomo that is a proxy you maintain.
Nothing to operate
Self-hosted Matomo is a database, an app, a cron job, and an upgrade path. Mrkr is a script tag.

Breadth
Heatmaps, form analytics, A/B testing, tag management. Mrkr has none of those and never will.
You can host it yourself
GPL software on your own disk. Mrkr fails that outright: proprietary and hosted only.
Maturity
Shipping since 2007, with the plugins, translations, and public-sector references to match.
Data model
Matomo keeps raw hit-level data. Mrkr stores pre-aggregated counters, faster but less flexible.
