Managing your subscription

Everything below lives under Settings → Billing, visible to workspace owners and admins.

Upgrading

Pick a plan and Mrkr opens a Stripe Checkout session for it, which collects your card and activates both the plan's flat base price and its metered overage price in one subscription. If you already have an active subscription, choosing a different plan opens the Stripe Customer Portal instead, where the plan swap happens directly.

Downgrading

Downgrades go through the Stripe Customer Portal, available once you've subscribed at least once. There's no in-app downgrade confirmation step beyond what the portal itself shows you. Downgrading also shortens your retention window, and the nightly cleanup job enforces the new window: data older than the plan you move to is pruned rather than kept. Export anything you need first (see Data and exports).

Payment method, invoices, and cancelling

All of it (updating your card, viewing and downloading past invoices, and cancelling) happens in the Stripe Customer Portal. Manage billing opens it directly. Mrkr does not maintain a separate invoice history in the dashboard; Stripe's portal is the single source of truth for what you've been charged.

What happens after cancellation

When a subscription is cancelled, the workspace's status is marked canceled and it falls back to the retired free plan's limits: a 10,000-pageview monthly ceiling with a hard stop, one site, and a 60-day retention window. Your tracker keeps collecting inside those limits, and any sites beyond the limit stay on your account, but you can't add a new one until you're back under it or subscribe again.

The dashboard locks when the subscription ends

The retired free plan is a fallback for your data, not a usable tier: it is not an entitlement. Once a subscription is cancelled, the reporting pages are behind the paywall until you subscribe again. Settings, Workspaces and Account stay reachable so you can pay, switch workspace, export, or close the account. Workspaces grandfathered onto the free plan before it was retired are the exception and keep full access.

Cancelling shortens your retention window immediately

Cancellation doesn't delete your data outright, but the nightly cleanup job applies the new plan's window from that point: on a 60-day window, anything older than 60 days is pruned and does not come back if you resubscribe. If you have history you care about, get it out before you cancel; see Data and exports.

Failed payments

A failed invoice payment marks the workspace's status as past due. A past-due workspace is still treated as an active metered subscription for ingest and usage-reporting purposes (you keep collecting data) while Stripe's own dunning process retries the charge.
